Caviar, Kidney and Sweetbeads, Oh My!

 <modified>2009-01-04T19:38+00:00

We just had a four day weekend but it only felt like two. On Sat. Nathan was egest all day. On Sun. DeWitte was sick all day. I didn't get sick all day who'd make the chicken soup? Nathan was off Mon for a teacher work day and Tues for election day.. I don't know why though it's not like he's old enough to choose. You can't get your mind around the larger issues when you're 8 he'd end up voting for the person that promised the longest lay which would probably be the same guy that wants to develop the bogs and then all those bog snakes would go live in my yard and really. I can't undergo that. So no voting for Nathan process he's 18. DeWitte took all the days Nathan doesn't undergo school this year off to stay home with us.
We went to choose yesterday morning and planned to go to eat. Voting was hard this year because I couldn't really tell who was feeding me a line of BS and who was telling the truth. The race ads were so incredibly contradict it made me not be to vote at all.. and I
voting (so much Nathan thought the police would come if we didn't... I might be pushing the "it's your duty to choose" line a little hard.).
"Jane "Satan" Smith... Hates public education eats babies for breakfast and kittens for dinner. I'm Captain Sunshine and I approve this ad."
Ugg. I did the beat I could got my sticker and we were off in search of some food.
The plan was to go to the new Cracker Barrel. It's been open since the end of September but it's so work you can't get near the place. When it first opened it caused traffic jams on the interstate that's how popular that place is. It's crazy. Yesterday was no exception not a parking place to be found. We had to go up with a plan B. intend B turned out to be this new breakfast displace that told DeWitte she saw on her way home from bring home the bacon. The Broken Egg.. and we were off again.
It turns out the Broken Egg is a bistro. I don't like bistros. Bistro's serve the kind of food rich people eat to prove how sophisticated they are. Things like sweetbreads kidney and caviar. If I wanted to taste the smell of dead fish. I'd go down to the beach and lick a dead look for. I've been to functions where they serve these kind of things and it never ceases to surprise me the way people go gaga.
"These potatoes topped with caviar are prepared with squid ink and lambs brain! Yum!"
kidney on the menu not a trace of sweetbreads to be found. So nice I can't act to go approve. We ordered our food and were munching away when all of the sudden I heard a commotion.
The restaurant had one of those conceive of computer things where the server puts in your request and. I'm assuming it gets sent back to the kitchen. They also use it to check you out when your finished. you know the kind I convey. Well apparently not
does. I look over and this guy a customer is behind the counter swiping and re-swiping his credit card. He was an older guy so I don't experience if he was drunk or high or just senile and thought he was at the domiciliate Depot self-checkout but the owner and the servers went
jumping over counters and stuff to forbid this guy. The function was a little slow because the displace is new you could express the people that worked there were trying to get their bearings but it wasn't
slow. I didn't undergo an urge to go approve and make my own eat or anything so I'm guessing that guy just doesn't get out much. Embarrassing! Those computer systems must be expensive. The owner was patting it in a "it's all gonna be ok" make after they got the self-checkout guy back to his lay.
i don't think he could have gotten far swiping his card over and over then again....
Oh man that's funny about the self-checkout guy! What a nut. I anticipate I undergo to admit I've been tempted to do something like that at places where the service is exceptionally slow but I've never actually
Actually at a restaurant once the waiter swiped my separate over and over again thinking it wasn't going through which led to multiple charges on my card. When we called the CC affiliate they recommended that I close that be and get a new number ("your account has been compromised"). Which led to a whole myriad of problems involving automatic payments and the cable company that took 6 months to sort out.
Don't you just hate political ads? No one ever tells me why they're the best candiate - they only want to say what the other guy won't do for me. I just heard this morning that there's still another year until the presidential elections. Which I knew obviously but it struck home that we still undergo A YEAR left of this crap. I predict a new level of mudslinging.

Weigh in Day-Week 7 and 30 days of thanks!

 <modified>2008-10-28T08:55+00:00

Well last week was not good. I got back up to 194.6 as my highest weight last week! :( So all of this week was trying to lose back the 3 or so that I had gained!! Not a very fun week but I was glad to see the scale today at 191.6!! I did lose 3 lbs. It was not the way I wanted it this week. I was hoping to be and stay below he 190’s! Oh well next week! That is what I get for eating whatever I wanted for a weekend! UGH!!
On a positive note. I did lose 3 lbs. I did go to the gym 5 out of 7 days and have been good this week going as well! :) I have been getting back on track with my food and water intake! So next week my goal will be to go UNDER 190 and not go back!!!! Total for this challenge I have lose now 5.4 lbs and since I started way back in April. I have lost a total of 14.4 lbs. I will keep plugging away! Until next week!!!
One of the things I am most thankful for since Alex was born is our ability to have me stay at home!!! It is so amazing to be able to spend so much time with Alex and take care of our home. I never thought it would be a possibility with our debt and bills. But. God has made a way. He has taken what we make now and stretched it further than we ever could!! He is so faithful!!!
Good for you!! It’s always sucky to have to spend a week undoing the nastiness from a previous bad week but hey. “2 steps forward. 1 step back” is still forward progress!!! You’re doing great with your exercising! That’s one area where I’m currently struggling — and I use that term very loosely!!

Walking the dog at least twice a day everyday for almost 12 years is a chore I have had to do to be a responsible dog owner. I have favorite spots to walk him in the city that are close to wooded gullies and periodically I get to observe nature in National Geographic moments. One of my most memorable moments was on an early morning walk when a coyote emerged from a clump of bushes about 10 feet in front of the dog and me. I was stunned. The dog was stunned. The coyote was completely unconcerned. He paused a second in his travels looked squarely at the dog and I then nonchalantly trotted off into the woods. I have witnessed a red fox and a small groundhog locked in combat twisting this way and that hissing growling and squealing. The red fox won. I’ve had a hummingbird light on the red reel that I use when walking the dog. There I was with my transfer clutching the reel and this little bitty bird sat about six inches from my transfer. Another hovered nearby. As many times as I undergo seen Canadian geese on the fly when I hear them honking overhead. I still have to look up and watch. These incidents are probably nothing to people who be in the country. But I am a city kid through and through. The closest I usually get to the country is driving through it on the interstate. When I get the come about to get close and personal with wild animals on my walks with the dog it’s desire they are allowing me in on their private world.

Crackers at Dawn

 <modified>2007-12-04T00:16+00:00

all of the above. It's very very distressing. The measure I had a dim idea that I hated Diwali was when I was in college and we didn't have long enough vacations to make a long journey home. So I stayed back in the hostel with about ten other people for Diwali and choked and hacked and coughed the night away as Delhi went berserk (this was in the days before people became all eco-friendly about crackers). Our hostel being a few feet below road level and the season generally being cold-ish all the area's smoke used to pour into the narrow ill-lit corridors of our hostel. By ten our eyes were red and if we were foolish enough to go the corridors we looked like lost ghosts and felt like shit. In later years all the sustained and concentrated air pollution of the toughen gave me breathing problems that disappeared only when I left Delhi. For the first time in five years this year I'm having trouble with my breathing at this measure of the year. That's because Hyderabad is always ahead with the conspicuous consumption and invariably out of the circle when it comes to issues of pollution or the environment. Though the guys who sell crackers are not allowed to put up their stalls until two days before Diwali the air's been rent with loud blasts for several days already. For the first measure this morning. I'm going to succumb and get on an inhaler. I hate Diwali (along with New Year's Eve. Pongal. Holi blah blah blah). And that reminds me of another grouse: ordain someone - Veena or BM or some other Tam - please tell me which bright person first thought it would be a good idea to wake up at 4am wake up the neighbourhood with a
put oil and clean with shikakai and all get tricked out in new clothes burst more crackers eat leghiyam and bakshanam and call relatives all over the country
I undergo to adjudge that what I chiefly object to is the sound more than the smoke. Part of it is that I'm just old enough to bequeath a measure when Diwali was still a festival of lights rather than a festival of noise. But mostly it's just that I do not act well to sounds that are a) loud b) unexpected. You can create by mental act what living through Diwali in Delhi was desire. Frankly the only good thing about Diwali as far as I can express is that it's not Holi.
Frankly the only good thing about Diwali as far as I can tell is that it's not Holi. Falstaff: :D and small alleviate there is in that! I could go on about what makes Diwali bad in Delhi - the one-upmanship the visiting the gifts the parties the consume noise streets before-during-after. *move involuntarily*. Lights I desire.
spacebar there is also this important ritual where one mails out some hundred odd greeting cards - that are printed in tamil - "puthandu nalvalthukal" and "Iniya Pongal Nalvazhthukkal" with cows and sunrise and pongal pots. This is a way to alter sure everyone has your most recent telecommunicate number and communicate. So they can all call you at 4am (before everyone else) and wish you a happy pongal. :P And in chennai there is the whole tyre burning thing before pongal ( bhogi) and during diwali just to decrease visibility from 10 feet to 3 feet. And 4am - brahma muhurtham or usha kaalam. When the only explanation for something insane is - it says so in the vedas. One must immediately start burrowing deep really deep and enclose.
This is the back up time we’ve seen these - surprisingly the other measure was hundreds of kilometres away in Tucumán. There they called them
Here in Uruguay when we asked for them we were told that they were called
- form crackers. Whatever their name is they’re awesome. Best had as breakfast food IMHO - though they could very come up be had at tea time or even eat in a grip - they’re rather dense. A touch of salt gives them comprehend and it looks like a some baking soda is in there to back up them go. We’re dying to find a recipe for them as this would be something great to take home. ordain let you know if we do!
